Car Care Overview
It’s always been funny to me that the most expensive and most visible system on modern vehicles is often the most neglected. Your cars finish is made up of many layers, all working together to do one thing, protect the metal underneath from outside forces that cause corrosion and decay. With modern processes of dipping cars bodies in anti-corrosion compounds, priming, painting, and clear-coating, the finish on today’s cars can last for many years with minimal care and maintenance. It may not be pretty, but it won’t rust out from under you like the old days. With just a little bit of time and effort, though, you can keep your car looking brand new for many years. It doesn’t take a big investment of time or money to properly maintain your cars finish with modern products and advancements in car care techniques. Most people are
amazed at just how little effort it takes to keep a car near
show condition once they know how.

The guides in this section are a collaboration of years of trial and error, research, and spending time picking the brains of fellow enthusiasts and professionals in the detailing business. They are no means a definitive guide on car care. They are simply what I’ve found that works for me. I’ve gone through stages of taking obsessive care to detail my cars to the point of near show quality, and stages when I just needed a quick way to protect my car from the elements. I’ll include what I have learned that worked for me in both situations. In detailing a car, you can truly spend as much or as little time and money as you want. It depends on whether your goal is to provide your finish with good solid protection, polish it up to show off to the neighbors, or prepare it for competitive showing.

You will see me refer to certain products that I use on my vehicles, recommend to friends, and sell on our site. This is no coincidence. I either currently use, or have used every car care product we offer for sale, and can recommend them based on personal experience. This is not a supermarket of car care products; it is though, everything you need to properly care for the interior, and exterior of your vehicle. I welcome comments and correspondence on the subject, and am always open to try new techniques or products. Please feel free to email me on these subjects with any comments positive or negative. This is how I’ve learned over the years and hope to continue to. From time to time we will have guests post on techniques that they have found that work for them.
